Ariotake, which is pronounced as it sounds, is a word from the Matsigenka language, which belongs to the Arawak linguistic family, and which, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (2017), has an estimated population of 6,629 inhabitants who settle mainly in the basins of the Madre de Dios, Urubamba, Camisea and Apurímac rivers (Peru.
