Scientific evaluation policy
Peer review process
The articles published by the Amazon Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences (RACBA) are subjected to an evaluation process:
1) Evaluation of the journal standards: It begins with the reception of papers. The works sent to the RACBA are evaluated in the first instance by the Editorial Team who will review the fulfillment of the Guidelines for the presentation of the works. The manuscript is reviewed with a Textual Similarity Software (Turnitin), works with more than 19% similarities in texts, including recycled texts (self-plagiarism) will be rejected. Papers that do not meet some of the requirements of the Guidelines for authors will not be accepted. This process takes about two weeks.
2) Peer review: The accepted papers will be assigned to a responsible Editor, who will lead the review process and is a researcher in the same subject area as the manuscript. The Editor in charge reviews the manuscript, may suggest changes, corrections or reject the manuscript, if it is not within the purposes of the journal or has significant and visible errors. The Editor in charge will request the evaluation of the manuscript from anonymous external reviewers (peer review), usually three. The reviewers will be selected for their expertise and knowledge on the subject to which the work to be evaluated refers. The reviewer is asked to evaluate the work according to international quality standards and criteria for publication. This process has a very variable duration, usually between 2 to 4 months.
The reviewers will have the following characteristics: knowledge of the subject, not having competence problems, being recognized as a researcher and academic, responsibility and discretion in the evaluation.
The reviewers receive the norms and recommendations on ethics and good behavior that the Editorial Committee expects. Selected reviewers are not paid. The authors of the articles can suggest reviewers when they send the cover letter, the Editorial Team reserves the selection of reviewers. The type of review is double blind; that is, the reviewer remains anonymous.
Evaluation: The referees or reviewers issue suggestions and recommendations on how to improve the article. The evaluation of the referees qualifies the work as:
- Work accepted for publication without modifications
- Work accepted for publication with modifications
- Rejected job
- I work with suggestion for another journal
The Responsible Editor summarizes the evaluation and notifies the corresponding author of the decision on the manuscript. In the case of suggestions and corrections, the author has 10 days to resolve and submit them. Corrections can be explicit in the manuscript.
Acceptance and work in the press. The work has the status of ACCEPTED when it has passed the review process and the author has made all the corrections and modifications indicated. The accepted work is sent to correction of style and layout. The diagrammed version will be sent to the author to be reviewed and returned with the conformity post and permission for its publication (letter).
When the Editor of the RACBA has all the documentation that will allow him to publish the work, then the work will be considered an ARTICLE IN PRESS. The RACBA only provides proof of ARTICLE IN PRESS, if the author requests it. The delay from submission to this stage (press work) is usually between four and six months.
