First record of Brownea jaramilloi Fabaceae (Caesalpinioideae), for Perú, Distribution and Etnobotany

The first record of Brownea jaramilloi A.J. Perez et al, for the Peruvian Flora. The collection was made in the Tarapotillo community, Nanay river, close to the Nina Rumi community (downstream), located in the Loreto Region, Maynas province, San Juan Bautista district. The collection is deposited in the Amazon Herbarium (AMAZ) of the National University (USCH) University of South Carolina. The species in question was reported for the first time as a new species in 2012 in Ecuador, in the town of Orellana. Three species of Brownea have been recorded for Perú. B. grandiceps, B. leucantha and B. macrophylla, the first two species reported for Loreto and Amazonas and Amazonas and B. macrophylla reported only for Loreto. The closest species to B. jaramilloi is B. leucantha. Brownea wood is one of the 52 species registered as veined woods (author!s field data in press) whose black and light brown color of the heartwood give it a tone of beauty and elegance, the ductility of the wood makes it possible to carry out crafts of any shape and size, which is marketed at regional and national craft fairs, additionally, in Ecuador it has recorder that this species is used as medicinal and ornamental.
