Green Economy as a Competitiveness Factor among Producers of a Coffee Cooperative in San Martín

Abstract

The transition toward sustainable production practices represents a challenge for agricultural organizations seeking to improve their performance without increasing environmental impacts. This study aimed to explain the influence of the green economy on the competitiveness of producers associated with a coffee cooperative in San Martín. A quantitative, applied, descriptive-explanatory, non-experimental, and cross-sectional study was conducted with a probabilistic sample of 114 farmers. Two 15-item questionnaires were administered, with Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of 0.980 and 0.973. The results showed predominantly moderate levels of green economy practices (39%) and competitiveness (37%). Linear regression revealed a positive association (r = 0.472; R² = 0.223; β = 0.406), indicating that the green economy explained 22.27% of the variability in competitiveness. It is concluded that the green economy is associated with competitive performance, although other organizational and productive factors are also involved.
