Abstract

The purpose of this research was to evaluate how coaching becomes a tool to improve the business development of SMEs in the commerce sector in the Tarapoto district. To do so, a survey was conducted to owners, managers and supervisors, in order to respond to the objectives, set. From a total of 127 SMEs operating in this financial institution, a sample of 95 workers was obtained. Methodologically, descriptive research was applied, evaluating whether the managers of the SMEs know coaching as a tool to improve their performance. The results revealed a notable lack of knowledge about coaching, although it was observed that companies that apply it achieve better organizational performance. In conclusion, few entrepreneurs know coaching and those who apply it do so empirically. However, coaching is consolidated as a key tool in the management of human talent, allowing for better business results and maximizing the potential of the work team.
