Abstract

Research on sustainable tourism in the Amazon has expanded without yet consolidating an integrated territorial perspective. This study aimed to characterize its evolution, influence, geographical distribution, and thematic cores, and to derive an agenda for International Business and Tourism. A bibliometric review was conducted using a PICo framework and PRISMA 2020 on two Scopus exports, with a cut-off date of 8 September 2026. Of 267 records, 43 duplicates were removed; 224 records were screened, 91 reports were sought, 34 full texts were assessed, and 33 articles were included. The corpus accumulated 525 citations, an h-index of 12, 142 authors, and 23 journals; 60.6% was published between 2021 and 2026. Peru, Brazil, and Ecuador accounted for 27 studies. Community-based tourism and ecotourism predominated, while conservation appeared in 32 articles and governance in only 10. The field shifted from conservation valuation toward livelihoods, identity, planning, and innovation, yet important gaps remain in value chains, internationalization, distributive measurement, and comparative governance.
