Abstract

Female leadership represents a relevant component for understanding women’s entrepreneurial dynamics, particularly in underexplored territorial contexts. This study aimed to determine the relationship between female leadership and business entrepreneurship among women direct-sales consultants in the province of San Martín, Peruvian Amazon. A quantitative, correlational, non-experimental, and cross-sectional design was employed. The sample comprised 218 consultants selected through simple random probability sampling from a population of 500. Female leadership and business entrepreneurship questionnaires were administered, yielding Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of 0.973 and 0.934, respectively. Spearman’s rank correlation analysis revealed a positive and statistically significant association between the two variables (ρ = 0.192; p = 0.004). Likewise, all five dimensions of female leadership were significantly associated with business entrepreneurship, although the relationships were weak in magnitude. Female leadership was therefore identified as a component associated with entrepreneurial dynamics; however, its role should be understood within a multidimensional phenomenon shaped by individual, social, and contextual factors. This study provides empirical evidence from a Peruvian Amazonian setting that remains underrepresented in the literature.
