Contribution of IT in improving the productivity of SMEs

The implementation of Information Technology (IT) has become a great paradigm for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) due to the uncertainty it generates. Based on this event, the objective of the study was to demonstrate how IT contributes to improving the productivity of SMEs. For this, the study consisted of a systematic review executing searches in different databases of scientific articles published in journals indexed to Scielo, Latindex Catalog and Scopus between the years 2018 and 2021. The results show the importance, impact, advantages and challenges that requires the implementation of IT to improve the productivity of SMEs. The review concludes by highlighting the adoption of IT generates competitive advantages in the competitive market, due to improvements in communication channels, reduction of waiting times, improvement in decision making and providing greater process control.
