Scientific evaluation policy
Peer review process
The articles published by the Amazon Digital Jorunal (RAD) are subjected to an evaluation process:
1) Evaluation of the journal standards: It begins with the reception of papers. The works sent to the RAD are evaluated in the first instance by the Editorial Team who will review the fulfillment of the Guidelines for the presentation of the works. The manuscript is reviewed with a Textual Similarity Software (Turnitin), works with more than 19% similarities in texts, including recycled texts (self-plagiarism) will be rejected. Papers that do not meet some of the requirements of the Guidelines for authors will not be accepted. This process takes about two weeks.
2) Peer review: The accepted papers will be assigned to a responsible Editor, who will lead the review process and is a researcher in the same subject area as the manuscript. The Editor in charge reviews the manuscript, may suggest changes, corrections or reject the manuscript, if it is not within the purposes of the journal or has significant and visible errors. The Editor in charge will request the evaluation of the manuscript from anonymous external reviewers (peer review), usually three. The reviewers will be selected for their expertise and knowledge on the subject to which the work to be evaluated refers. The reviewer is asked to evaluate the work according to international quality standards and criteria for publication. This process has a very variable duration, usually between 2 to 4 months.
The reviewers will have the following characteristics: knowledge of the subject, not having competence problems, being recognized as a researcher and academic, responsibility and discretion in the evaluation.
The reviewers receive the norms and recommendations on ethics and good behavior that the Editorial Committee expects. Selected reviewers are not paid. The authors of the articles can suggest reviewers when they send the cover letter, the Editorial Team reserves the selection of reviewers. The type of review is double blind; that is, the reviewer remains anonymous.
Evaluation: The referees or reviewers issue suggestions and recommendations on how to improve the article. The evaluation of the referees qualifies the work as:
- Work accepted for publication without modifications
- Work accepted for publication with modifications
- Rejected job
- I work with suggestion for another journal
The Responsible Editor summarizes the evaluation and notifies the corresponding author of the decision on the manuscript. In the case of suggestions and corrections, the author has 10 days to resolve and submit them. Corrections can be explicit in the manuscript.
Acceptance and work in the press. The work has the status of ACCEPTED when it has passed the review process and the author has made all the corrections and modifications indicated. The accepted work is sent to correction of style and layout. The diagrammed version will be sent to the author to be reviewed and returned with the conformity post and permission for its publication (letter).
When the Editor of the RAD has all the documentation that will allow him to publish the work, then the work will be considered an ARTICLE IN PRESS. The RAD only provides proof of ARTICLE IN PRESS, if the author requests it. The delay from submission to this stage (press work) is usually between four and six months.
Authorship and ethics policy
Integrity of the author, authorship, plagiarism, fight against plagiarism and bad behavior
Author's integrity. The Amazon Digital Journal (RAD) adheres to the Responsible research publication: international standards for authors [Kleinert S & Wager E (2011) Responsible research publication: international standards for authors. A position statement developed at the 2nd World Conference on Research Integrity, Singapore, July 22-24, 2010. Chapter 51 in: Mayer T & Steneck N (eds) Promoting Research Integrity in a Global Environment. Imperial College Press / World Scientific Publishing, Singapore (pp 317-28). (ISBN 978-981-4340-97-7)]
In summary:
- The research that gives rise to the work must have been carried out in an ethical and responsible manner and must comply with all relevant legislation.
- Authors must present the results of their research clearly, honestly and without fabrication, falsification or improper manipulation of the data.
- Authors should strive to describe the methods used in the research clearly and unequivocally so that others can confirm their findings, that is, the works should have the necessary information so that they can be repeatable, reproducible and traceable.
- Work submitted for publication must be original, not plagiarized, and must not have previously been published elsewhere.
- Authors must assume collective responsibility for the submitted and published work.}
- Authorship of research publications must accurately reflect the contributions of individuals to the work and its reports.
- Funding sources and relevant conflicts of interest must be disclosed.
Authorship. The RAD adheres to the definition of author of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and considers that to be an author of the work must have the following conditions:
- Have provided a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis or interpretation of data for the work; And
- Have participated in the writing of the work or critical review and have given an important intellectual contribution to the content of the manuscript; And
- You must have approved the final version to be published; And
- Take responsibility for all aspects of the job to ensure that questions regarding the accuracy or completeness of any part of the job are properly investigated and resolved.
Plagiarism. The RAD considers plagiarism as a fraud in the publication and a dishonest behavior, and this is defined as the appropriation of the ideas, processes, results or texts of another person without giving the corresponding credit.
In addition, fraud and misconduct are also understood as manufacturing (invention of data or results), and falsification (manipulation of research materials, equipment, processes to alter data or results, as well as the change or omission of data or results).
The RAD does not tolerate plagiarism, fraud or misconduct, which is why it establishes mechanisms to avoid and remedy it:
During the editorial process, the RAD avoids the publication of plagiarism, fraud and misconduct by using the opinion of peer reviewers and the revision of texts using Text Similarity Software (Turnitin) as a computer tool to detect it.
If the RAD detects or is alerted and confirms cases of plagiarism, fraud or misconduct in a published article, the Editorial Committee will proceed according to the guidelines and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics, actions that could lead to the retraction of the article. (COPE - http://publicationethics.org/) being able to execute the retraction of the article.
Digital preservation policy
