Tourism management in the Tourism Sub-Management of the Provincial Municipality of Tambopata and its influence on tourism activity in Puerto Maldonado

This study analyzes the influence of municipal tourism management on tourism activity in Puerto Maldonado in 2019. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional design was used, applying surveys to 141 actors involved in the tourism sector, such as operators, accommodations and tourists. The results show a moderate positive correlation (r=0.650, p=0.000) between both variables, indicating that more efficient management has a significant impact on the development of tourism activity in the region. Although the perception of management was mostly critical, with 36.2% rating it as “Fair” and 30.5% as “Poor”, tourism activity was viewed more positively, with 47% evaluating it as “Good” and 26.2% as “Very Good”. These results suggest that, although the region has a high tourism potential due to its natural attractions, it is essential to strengthen management policies to maximize this impact. The research concludes that it is necessary to improve the planning and coordination of the tourism sector to promote sustainable and competitive growth in Puerto Maldonado.
